Philippe Coutinho denies claims of grudge against Daniel Levy

According to the Daily Mail, Philippe Coutinho has rejected claims that he holds a grudge against Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy over a failed move to North London from Barcelona.

The player’s agent, Kia Joorabchian categorically denied the claims made by reports in the Spanish media that the move collapsed due to the demands of the Spurs chairman.

“Phillipe Coutinho has no personal issue with Daniel Levy and claims otherwise are totally false”

Joorabchian also denied that financial reasons were the cause of the deal’s collapse.

The 27-year-old joined Barcelona for a club-record fee in 2018. The move has not gone according to plan with the player failing to hold down a starting spot at the Nou Camp.

Unsatisfied by the player’s performances, they were willing to let Coutinho leave the club on loan just a year and a half after he made his high profile move.

Currently on loan at Bayern Munich, he has scored nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances for the Germans. The Bavarians are, however, not keen on making the move permanent.

He could be in line with a return to England, with a number of Premier League sides keen. Apart from us, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in securing the playmaker.

Barcelona are thought to be keen to get high-earner Coutinho off the wage bill with finances stretched during the indefinite postponement of football due to the coronavirus crisis.

Prior to making the move to Germany, Coutinho rejected the chance to make a loan move to Tottenham. The Brazilian had worked with then Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at Espanyol. What the future holds for the Brazilian remains to be seen.
