Liverpool’s transfer decision opens door for Coutinho’s Tottenham move
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Philippe Coutinho, as Liverpool have no intentions to re-sign the Brazilian playmaker, according to the Mirror.
Coutinho enjoyed a successful stint at Liverpool before forcing away a transfer to Barcelona in January 2018. The midfielder struggled to make an impact in Spain and was loaned out to Bayern Munich last summer.
The Germans have decided not to make Coutinho’s transfer permanent, while Barcelona are keen on offloading the Brazilian, putting him in a transfer limbo. (h/t Mirror)
There had been hope in the player’s camp that a return to Liverpool could be worked out, but the Reds have decided against bringing him back to Anfield. (h/t Mirror)
This should come as a boost to Tottenham, who have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old recently (h/t Daily Mail).
Having lost Christian Eriksen during the January transfer window, we could definitely do with someone of Coutinho’s quality in our squad. Moreover, the Brazilian international has already proven himself in the Premier League.
He may have struggled to make an impact at Barcelona, but remains a potent player. He has fared decently at Bayern Munich this season, scoring nine goals and assisting eight more in 32 matches.

But the transfer fee might prove to be a stumbling block as Barcelona are demanding a whopping €120m for Coutinho, looking to recoup the €145m they spent on him two years ago. While he has the potential to be a good addition to our side, it remains to be seen if our chairman does actively pursue his signing this summer.
