Real Madrid offer Marcelo to Tottenham in exchange for Harry Kane
Real Madrid are amping up their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. The La Liga giants are reportedly willing to offer left-back Marcelo as part of the deal that would take Kane to Santiago Bernabeu. (Diario Madridista h/t Express).
Kane has established himself as one of the deadliest marksmen in the game currently. The 26-year-old is already third in the list of our all-time leading goalscorers. However, of late, there have been speculations over his future at Tottenham, with the likes of Real Madrid interested in signing him this summer. (h/t Express)
To that end, the La Liga heavyweights are willing to allow Marcelo move the other way, in order to reduce the transfer fee that Tottenham chairman might demand for Kane (h/t Express).
The 31-year-old Marcelo is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the game. However, the Brazilian has had to battle for a first-team berth with Ferland Mendy at Real Madrid this season.
If Tottenham are not convinced by Marcelo, Real Madrid are willing to offer either Gareth Bale or James Rodriguez instead of the Brazilian. Both Bale and Rodriguez are not part of the plans at Real Madrid and are facing uncertain futures (h/t Express).
Kane valued at £200m by Tottenham
Kane’s importance to this Tottenham Hotspur team cannot be overstated. The 26-year-old, despite being sidelined since January, is our top-scorer for the season, with 17 goals. But, his recent comments in an interview with Jamie Redknapp have cast doubts over his long-term future with us (h/t Sky Sports).
Tottenham, though, are confident of holding onto Kane beyond the summer, after slapping a £200m price tag on the England captain (h/t Daily Mail).

Real Madrid bid to reduce this asking price by offering Tottenham a player in exchange (h/t Express).
Given Marcelo’s age and James Rodriguez’s decline in stature, it is unlikely that the club would accept any such offer. But, Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of Bale (h/t The Sun). And the prospect of working with the Welshman might tempt him to consider the possibility of such an exchange.
