Son Heung-min hopes to complete military service during lockdown
Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min is hoping to make the most of the Premier League suspension to complete the mandatory four-week military service in South Korea (h/t Sky Sports).
The Premier League has been suspended at least until the end of this month due to the coronavirus outbreak. And as things stand, it looks very much likely that the suspension will be extended beyond April 30, with resumption only possible when it is safe and appropriate to do so (h/t Sky Sports).
And, Son is hoping to use this down-time to complete his mandatory four-week military service in South Korea.
Son was given an exemption from South Korea’s mandatory 21-month military service when he captained his country to a gold medal in the Asian Games in September 2018. But, he is still required to complete a shortened four-week assignment (h/t Sky Sports).
It was originally scheduled for the off-season, but with the campaign on a halt, the South Korean international is working with the club to finish the assignment before footballing action resumes (h/t Sky Sports).
Son was given the permission to travel back to South Korea last weekend by Tottenham. The forward arrived in Seoul on Sunday with his parents and is currently in a 14-day quarantine (h/t Evening Standard).

Son is currently recovering from an injury after having broken his arm during our game against Aston Villa in February. The South Korean underwent surgery on the fractured arm in his homeland and returned to England last month, following which he spent 14 days in self-isolation.
Son has had another solid season for us. The 27-year-old has scored 16 goals and assisted 9 more in 32 matches across all competitions.
