Ianis Hagi wanted by Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, claims agent
Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has made an enquiry for on-loan Rangers hotshot Ianis Hagi, according to the player’s agent (h/t Daily Mail).
Ianis Hagi, son of former Barcelona and Real Madrid superstar Gheorghe Hagi, is currently on loan at Scottish giants Rangers from Belgian outfit Genk. The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for Steven Gerrard’s side, scoring three goals and setting up two more in 12 matches.
Able to play on either wings or as a central attacking midfielder, Hagi has displayed his versatility and potential in his short time at the Ibrox Stadium. The 21-year-old has also made ten appearances for the Romanian national team. And his rapid growth hasn’t gone unnoticed.
According to Hagi’s agent, Giovani Becali, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has enquired about the 21-year-old, along with Manchester City director Txiki Begiristain (h/t Daily Mail).
“I have been asked personally by Jose Mourinho and Txiki Begiristain about Ianis Hagi. They wanted to know about him and how he was getting on.”
However, Becali went on to add that the 21-year-old is likely to stay at Rangers beyond his current loan spell. The Scottish giants have an option to sign the Romanian international permanently for £4.5m, which they are likely to exercise in the summer (h/t Daily Mail).

Hagi has shown good potential in his burgeoning career. But, given our disappointing campaign this time out, the club would be better off going after proven players, who could help us bridge the gap to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City next season.
