Tottenham Hotspur planning a summer raid on Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a summer raid on fellow Premier League outfit Bournemouth, who are ready to offload some of their top players (h/t Daily Mail).

Since getting promoted to the Premier League in 2015, Bournemouth have invested heavily in the squad. But after a disappointing season so far, the Cherries have decided to go ahead with a summer overhaul (h/t Daily Mail).

While Ryan Fraser and Jordon Ibe are already set to leave upon their contract expiry, this would also mean that top stars like Callum Wilson, Joshua King and David Brooks might be on the transfer market come summer (h/t Daily Mail).

The report further states that Tottenham are believed to have taken note of this development and will be attempting to sign players from Bournemouth in the summer.

Attacking reinforcements from Bournemouth?

It is no secret that Tottenham have been found wanting for quality depth in the attacking department this season. We do not have a quality backup for our star striker Harry Kane. With him getting injured earlier this year, along with the likes of Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn, it brutally exposed the lack of depth in our squad.

So, it is imperative that Jose Mourinho and Tottenham bring in reinforcements in the final third of the pitch. And raiding Bournemouth for the likes of Callum Wilson and Josh King wouldn’t be the worst idea.

Both the Cherries’ forwards have plenty of experience in the Premier League and have a solid enough track record as well to be reliable backups for Kane. Wilson has scored 41 goals in 119 Premier League appearances in his career, while King has 46 in 154 top flight matches.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham will be able to invest heavily in the squad come summer, given the impact that the coronavirus pandemic is likely to have on the club’s finances.
