Jose Mourinho makes an important offer to La Liga flop
According to Spanish publication Marca (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has earmarked Real Madrid defender Eder Militao as a transfer target.
The report goes on to claim that the Portuguese manager is pushing to sign the player whom he tried to get during his time a Manchester United.
The chances of us signing Militao are remote since Real is in no hurry to give up on the player. Still only 22, they are willing to give him chances to impress.
Porto drop out of race for impressive Greek defender
Tottenham’s pursuit of Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas has received a significant boost. According to Greek outlet Sportdog, Portuguese giants Porto, who were considered to be the favorites. have dropped out of the running.
The 23-year-old left-back has been a consistent performer for Olympiacos. His performances from the last couple of seasons have attracted the attention of Europe’s top sides.
Interest is high with the likes of Arsenal, Leicester, Liverpool, Napoli, and Inter interested in the player. According to Sportdog, the player has an asking price of £22 million. Porto deemed the price to be too high, forcing them to abandon their pursuit of the 23-year-old.
Financial crisis gives Tottenham timely boost in pursuit of French midfielder
According to French publication Le10 Sport (h/t Birmingham Mail), Olympic Marseille’s dire financial situation will prevent them from offering a new contract to midfielder Maxime Lopez.
This can open the door for Tottenham to swoop in for the player they have been keen on. The player is out of contract next summer and can leave for a free when it expires.
The Ligue 1 club are facing losses of up to £87 million and Lopez is among a number of players whose deals will not be renewed (h/t Birmingham Mail).
Lopez could be on his way of France in the summer with the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham United also keen.
One veteran for another
According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express), Tottenham have identified Diego Godin to replace Jan Vertonghen.
Tottenham are looking for a central defender to add experience and quality to their backline and believe the 34-year-old Uruguayan can do this.

Godin joined Inter Milan only last summer from Atletico Madrid. However, the Uruguayan has struggled to adapt to Antonio Conte’s system. He could be shown the door this summer for a fee of around £7m, despite being under contract until 2022.
