Tottenham are busy making headlines even when footballing action is currently on hold. We take a look at the latest Spurs transfer news and rumours of the day.
Juventus enter race for Harry Kane
Only a day after it emerged that Real Madrid had dropped out of the race to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Serie A champions Juventus have joined the chase for our striker. This claim comes from a report in Corrierre dello Sport.
The Italian heavyweights are looking at the possibility of offloading Gonzalo Higuain and see Kane as the perfect alternative to replace the Argentine international.
Kane recently suggested he is open to the idea of leaving Tottenham if they are unable to match his ambitions. Manchester United are interested in signing the 26-year-old. And, now Juventus are also in the hunt for his transfer. Any move though, is likely to cost £200m.
Inter Milan intensify Vertonghen Pursuit
According to a report from the print edition of Tuttosport (h/t SempreInter), Inter Milan have ramped up their pursuit of Tottenham ace Jan Vertonghen.
The Belgian international is in the final few months of his contract at Tottenham. The report states that Spurs are unlikely to offer a new deal to the veteran defender, leaving the field clear for the Nerazzurri to sign him up on a free transfer.
Vertonghen recently opened up on the subject of his future, claiming that he had an important decision to make. It will be interesting to see if he stays and signs a new deal, or ends up leaving.
Tottenham linked with Portuguese ace Fabio Silva
According to a report from Calciomercato, Tottenham have emerged as one of the suitors for Portuguese sensation Fabio Silva. The Porto attacker, dubbed as the next ‘Joao Felix’, is also being monitored by Serie A giants Juventus.
The report goes on to add that Tottenham view the 17-year-old as the ideal candidate to replace Harry Kane in the long-term. Silva, a product of the Porto academy, has scored 3 goals and assisted 2 more in 21 first-team appearances.
An alternate report from Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Sport Witness) claims that Silva is also being monitored by Real Madrid and Barcelona and has a €125m release clause.
Alfredo Morelos touted for Spurs move by Darren Bent
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been urged to put his head down and work hard, as he has every opportunity to earn a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur reckons former Spurs’ man Darren Bent (h/t Football Insider).
“When I say it’s about timing, he might see himself at Spurs and why shouldn’t he? He might think his ability, the way he plays, is good enough for a team like Spurs which is fair enough,” Bent said (h/t Football Insider).
Morelos has been a prolific goalscorer for Rangers since arriving in 2017. The Colombian international has bagged 29 goals and set up 10 more in 46 appearances across all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.
Tottenham may ask for Anthony Martial in Kane deal
This news comes from the Express, wherein they claim that Spurs may demand Manchester United send Anthony Martial the other way in any transfer involving Harry Kane.
Tottenham had previously demanded Martial from Manchester United when they tried to sign Toby Alderweireld from our club. And, if it emerges that the club find it difficult to hold on to the 26-year-old, they might once again demand Martial from the 20-time English champions (h/t Express).

Martial’s time at Manchester United has been highly inconsistent. The Frenchman was at his lowest ebb during Jose Mourinho’s tenure at Old Trafford. Even though the Frenchman is full of potential, a reunion is unlikely.
