Tottenham reporter pours cold water on Jack Grealish links
Alasdair Gold took part in a recent Q+A session for Football.london and poured cold water on Jack Grealish joining Tottenham in a big-money move.
The reporter was asked several questions on Harry Kane and what would happen to players who are on the final months of their contracts.
However, one major question asked by a fan was regarding Jack Grealish. The Aston Villa midfielder has been impressive for the promoted side, however, they could end up getting relegated.
Tottenham messed up a move for Grealish almost two years back when the player would have cost £24m (h/t Football.london).
Villa were able to retain him and push for promotion, with Grealish growing further. The 24-year-old has been their best player this season, but Gold did not believe we could make a big move for him.
Gold added that his performances would have increased his value and we are in no position to bid for the Englishman (h/t Football.london):
“However, that will only have increased his value and even if Aston Villa do get relegated I can’t see Tottenham spending big money on anyone this summer in the current climate – particularly in that position – unless they offload someone for big money.”
A star under Poch?
Gold also believed that Grealish “would have been a star” under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. Jose Mourinho took over from the Argentine after a poor set of results this season.
Grealish could have been a great option to have in the midfield, especially with Christian Eriksen leaving us in January. We are in need of something extra in the midfield, although Gedson Fernandes joined in the winter window.

Grealish is a finished product and knows the English game well. However, spending a ton of money in such difficult times is also not the best approach.
