Alasdair Gold tasks Jose Mourinho to convince Harry Kane to stay put
According to reliable journalist Alasdair Gold (Football.london), the primary task of Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is to convince Harry Kane to stay put at the club.
The English ace’s future has been called into doubt following his comments on the future on Sky Sports. The striker went on to reveal that whether he stays in North London or not is dependent on the team’s ability to challenge for trophies.
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs have enjoyed memorable moments. But it has always been a case of being the bridesmaid and never the bride. We came close to breaking the duck under the Argentine last season in spectacular fashion.
A dream run to the finals of the UEFA Champions League ended in heartbreak as we were outdone by a wily opponent in spite of us being the better team.
With Jose Mourinho succeeding Pochettino, Spurs now have a manager at the helm who has won the biggest trophies in club football.
A serial winner, Mourinho is known for his ability to eke out victories and win honours. Bar Pep Guardiola, no other active manager in the English top-flight has won more trophies than the Portuguese.
Grass is not greener on the other side
Kane has been generous in his praise of the Portuguese an there is respect between both the manager and the player. (h/t Football.london)
It remains to be seen if that respect can also generate to trust. If Kane does move to Manchester United as advertised, he will indeed be moving to a club who are admittedly better placed than us at the moment.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to prove he can land the biggest trophies. It could just be a case of deja vu for our ace if he does make the move.
