Son Heung-min could miss training return due to quarantine
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Tottenham star Son Heung-min could be unavailable when the team returns to full training due to the government’s plan to put all people arriving in the UK in self-isolation for 14 days.
The Premier League is planning for a restart on June 8, with players likely to resume training on May 18. But Son could be unavailable for at least a week after the resumption of full training.
The South Korean international is currently serving a three-week mandatory military service back in his homeland. The programme is expected to finish on May 10, following which he will fly back to London (h/t Evening Standard).
However, Son may not be able to rejoin our team for training immediately. This is because the government plans to force everyone arriving in the UK to self-isolate for a period of two weeks (h/t Evening Standard).
This would be Son’s third period in quarantine. The 27-year-old had to self-isolate for 14 days after he returned from South Korea in February, following a surgery on his broken arm.
Subsequently, the Tottenham star then had to quarantine himself for another fortnight last month, after returning to South Korea to begin his shortened military service.

Son had been in fine form prior to his injury in February. During the 2019/20 campaign, the South Korean international has scored 16 goals and assisted 9 more in 32 matches across all competitions. Only Harry Kane has scored more goals than Son this term.
With the Premier League likely to return in June, let’s hope Son is able to stay fit and help us push for a top-four finish this season.
