Tottenham fans react as Newcastle United eye Mauricio Pochettino appointment
Newcastle United have made former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino as the top candidate to take over as the manager after takeover, according to Sky Sports.
Pochettino was at Tottenham for over five years and took the club to great heights. However, a poor start to the 2019/20 season saw him getting the sack in November last year. Since then, the Argentine has been without a job.
Newcastle United are set for a massive £300m takeover by PCP Capital Partners, backed by the Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Last week it emerged that the deal was in its final stages, with current owner Mike Ashley already receiving a deposit and all contracts being signed (h/t Sky Sports). With the deal on the verge of completion, the new owners are starting to plan for a rebuild, and have identified Poch as the man for the job.
Sky Sports claims that the Argentine will likely be paid £19m a year to take charge of the club. And he is interested in the role as he yearns for a Premier League return.
Tottenham fans took to social media to express their views on this development. And here are some of the reactions to the possibility of Poch taking over at St. James’ Park.

He’s gonna do great. Give him oil money and hes going to build a fantastic team. Gonna show what he could’ve done at Tottenham if we weren’t so cheap
