Arthur Melo distances himself from Tottenham transfer
Barcelona midfield ace Arthur Melo has responded to speculations linking him with Tottenham Hotspur, claiming that he has no interest in leaving the club (h/t Daily Mail).
Arthur joined Barcelona in the summer of 2018 from Gremio and has grown into a key member of the team. Till date, the 23-year-old has featured 67 times till date, winning the La Liga title in his debut season.
Arthur has had to deal with injury problems in the 2019/20 season. But he has till managed to contribute with 4 goals and 4 assists in 23 matches across all competitions.
The Brazil international had emerged as a potential transfer target for Tottenham. Reports earlier this month claimed that the North London outfit were willing to swap Tanguy Ndombele for the Brazilian (h/t Daily Mail).
However, he has distanced himself from a move to our club, claiming that he wants to continue at Barcelona (h/t Daily Mail).
“There’ll always be rumours, but I’m honestly really clear about the fact that the only option I’m interested in is staying at Barcelona, I’m really sure and relaxed about it.”
Arthur, given his creativity and vision, would have been a fine addition to our side, at a point when the club sold Christian Eriksen. However, with the midfielder intent on staying put at Camp Nou, our chances of landing him are pretty much over (h/t Daily Mail).
