Spurs Transfer Rumours: Midfield target refuses to rule out exit; Real Madrid star linked

Tottenham Hotspur are in the headlines even when the football on the pitch is suspended. We take a look at the latest Spurs transfer news and rumours of the day.

Marcel Sabitzer refuses to rule out RB Leipzig exit

Ever since Marcel Sabitzer scored twice to dump Tottenham out of the Champions League, he has been linked with a move to North London. And the RB Leipzig has fueled the speculations by claiming that he is “open to everything” in an interview with Bild (h/t Sport Witness).

Sabitzer has scored 15 goals in 35 matches in all competitions this season. The Austrian has been one of the Bundesliga outfit’s best players. When quizzed if he had already spoken with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, the 26-year-old refused to answer with a grin on his face (h/t Sport Witness).

Given the lack of a goalscoring midfielder in our ranks, adding someone like Sabitzer would be a great move for the club. However, earlier reports had stated that he is valued at £45m, which could prove to be a stumbling block.

Tottenham interested in Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon

Spanish outlet ABC de Sevilla claims that Tottenham have asked Real Madrid about left-back Sergio Reguilon. But, there is a lot of competition for the Spaniard’s signing as there are ten other clubs interested to sign him, including our bitter rivals Arsenal.

The 23-year-old Real Madrid graduate broke into the first-team last season. But following Ferland Mendy’s arrival last summer, he joined Sevilla on loan, where he has thrived, scoring one goal and setting up four more.

Reguilon is contracted with Real Madrid till 2023. But with Marcelo and Mendy ahead of him in the pecking order, Madrid are open to a sale and want £17.5m for his services. With Danny Rose set to leave Tottenham in the summer, perhaps an interesting choice to provide Ben Davies with competition at left-back.

Andre Onana confirms Ajax exit

Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has been linked with Tottenham, has confirmed that he will be leaving the club this summer. “It was five great years here. But now my time has come to take a step,” he told Fox Sports.

Rumours linking Onana’s transfer to Spurs have been flying around for a while now. And this development is likely to come as a big boost. Onana has been a key performer for Ajax in recent years and would be a fine long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris at our club.

However, Spurs are not alone in pursuit of the Cameroonian shot-stopper with London rivals Chelsea also interested, while Onana’s former club Barcelona are also keeping an eye on the situation. A bidding war beckons in the summer?

Spurs advised to sign Philippe Coutinho over Todd Cantwell

Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has advised Tottenham to move for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho over Norwich City ace Todd Cantwell. Both the attacking midfielders have been attracted Spurs’ interest this summer, but in an interview with Football Insider, Whelan has urged our club to move for the more experienced individual.

“I think he is one for the future but Tottenham need a little bit of magic in that number 10 role. Coutinho would be a great fit. He is the sort of player they should be looking at. You get four years out of him you would probably get a lot of reward.”

Coutinho, who has also been linked with Chelsea, hasn’t been able to reach the heights of his Liverpool days since leaving the Reds. Cantwell, on the other hand, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most promising young players this season. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham try to sign either of them.
