Tottenham the perfect destination for Chelsea star Willian, claims Brazil legend Rivaldo
Tottenham Hotspur would be the ideal next destination for soon-to-be free agent Chelsea star Willian, according to Brazilian legend Rivaldo (h/t Football.london).
Willian has been with the Blues since 2013 and has tasted plenty of success during his time at the club. However, his contract will expire at the end of the season. Negotiations over a new contract have hit a snag due to disagreement over the duration of the deal (h/t Daily Star).
This has piqued the interest of a lot of clubs, including Tottenham and Arsenal. Willian’s compatriot and former Barcelona star Rivaldo has given his opinion on the future of the winger now (h/t Football.london).
The former Brazil international reckons that a transfer to Tottenham would be the right move for the Chelsea star (h/t Football.london).
“A move to Tottenham could be a good option, especially because Willian would reunite with his former coach Jose Mourinho there, and the pair seem to have a good relationship.”
Mou’s relationship with Willian gives Spurs an edge
Indeed Mourinho and Willian share a good relationship. It was Mourinho who brought the Brazilian to Chelsea, signing him from under the noses of our club. Willian, in a recent interview, shed light on his equation with the Portuguese, claiming that they got along very well.

Rivaldo further added that given Mourinho’s liking for Brazilian players in general, Willian would get a lot of opportunities at Tottenham in the coming season (h/t Football.london).
Given Willian’s experience in the Premier League, he would be a good short-term addition to our squad. More so, considering the fact that he will not cost us a penny in transfer fees. It will be interesting to see if Spurs do make an attempt to land the seasoned campaigner when the transfer window opens.
