Tottenham target Victor Osimhen subject of £75m transfer bid from unnamed club
Lille striker Victor Osimhen, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, is subject of a £75m transfer bid from an unnamed club. This claim comes from French outlet Telefoot (h/t Daily Mail).
Osimhen joined Lille only last summer, and has enjoyed a sensational debut campaign in France. The 21-year-old Nigerian striker has bagged 18 goals and assisted six more in 38 matches in all competitions.
Regarded as one of the hottest young prospects in the transfer market, Osimhen has attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Inter Milan. Tottenham, too, are among the clubs lining up for the Nigerian’s signing (h/t Daily Mail).
However, according to the report, an unnamed club has approached Lille with a whopping £75m offer to land the striker. This ought to come as a blow for our club.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has already spoken about how finances will be affected due to the coronavirus crisis. This is likely to limit our spending power in the transfer window. And given the number of positions that need to be strengthened in the summer, spending that much on just a striker alone does seem unfeasible at the moment.
Having said that, there is no denying that the club needs a new centre-forward in the summer transfer window. The lack of depth in our striking department was brutally exposed when Harry Kane suffered an injury in January.

Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn can both play centrally, but neither are natural strikers. And that is certainly an area that Jose Mourinho needs to strengthen before the next season commences.
But it looks like Osimhen won’t be the player arriving at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium come summer.
