Tanguy Ndombele decides to stay and fight for his place at Tottenham Hotspur
According to the Telegraph, underfire midfielder, Tanguy Ndombele is keen to stay and fight for his place at Tottenham Hotspur. He is keen to prove his worth to Jose Mourinho after a tense debut season in North London.
The club’s record signing, Ndombele has been the subject of intense criticism. His inability to impress was also called out by Mourinho, who publically lambasted the player.
Despite rumours linking him to a move to Catalan giants Barcelona, the 23-year-old is keen to make his mark at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
The addition of the player last summer was seen as a coup. It was expected that he would take us to the next level as we sought to build upon our Champions League final appearance.
But it has not been the case, with both the club and the player struggling to make an impact. Add to this Ndombele’s injury woes, the player has looked like a fish out of water.
It is not to say he has been a complete failure. He has shown glimpses of his talent but too far and few in between to make an impact. His lack of fitness has been a constant source of irritation for Mourinho.
Firstly, he made himself unavailable for a clash with Brighton before Christmas, much to Mourinho’s annoyance. It reached a breaking point at Turf Moor as he was warned by the Spurs boss he was fighting for his future at the club after he was hauled off at the half time.

There have been signs in recent weeks of Ndombele and Mourinho working on the same page. The duo was seen in a one-on-one training session out in public last month. This, however, proved controversial after it breached social distancing measures amidst the coronavirus outbreak.
Ndombele was expected to galvanize us following the disappointment in Madrid. Hopefully, he will do so in his second season in England.
