Willian joined Chelsea in 2013 and has grown into an important cog in the wheel at Stamford Bridge. However, the Brazilian winger’s contract with the Blues is on the verge of expiry. Negotiations over a new deal haven’t gone according to plan, leaving the door open for an exit on free transfer. (h/t Express)

Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs vying or the winger’s signing.  And now, the Brazilian international has opened the doors to a transfer to our club, by claiming that a move to a rival club would be fine as he and his family prefer to stay in London. (h/t Express)

“However, it is like I said before, if I leave Chelsea with no trouble and leaving the doors open, it would be fine to move to a rival club. I don’t know [if leaving London is a possibility], I like London and so does my family.”

Our rivals Arsenal too are interested in signing Willian. However, the winger’s relationship with our manager Jose Mourinho should give Tottenham an edge in the race for his signing.

The Chelsea star stressed that he hasn’t been in touch with the Portuguese over a potential summer move, but insisted that they share a good relationship, also claiming that Mourinho was the best coach he has worked with. (h/t Express)

“No, no. I did not get anything from Mourinho even though I have a good relationship with him. He is not only a great coach but also a great friend of mine. He is the best coach I have worked with.”

The 31-year-old has been in decent form in 2019/20, scoring 7 goals and assisting 6 more in 37 matches in all competitions. Given his experience and proven pedigree, Willian would be a good short-term addition to our squad. It, now, remains to be seen if the club do act on the interest in the Brazilian.
