Twitter reacts to Tottenham Hotspur being linked to Ivan Rakitic
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail), Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic.
The 32-year-old has been an integral part of the Catalan club’s success since making the move to the Nou Camp in 2014. He has, however, been relegated to a supporting role this season. This has forced him to consider his future at the club.
With the player entering the final year of his contract, Barcelona are keen to recoup what they can for the midfielder. Apart from us, the likes of Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan are also keen.
According to the report, a deal for Rakitic heading to North London could depend on the future of Tanguy Ndombele in North London.
Tottenham’s record signing has struggled to adapt to the fitness levels required in the Premier League and has attracted interest from Barcelona over a summer move. The Catalans are unlikely to offer Spurs a full cash deal given their current financial state. The option to offer players such as Nelson Semedo or Samuel Umtiti has already been taken off the table. A number of Spurs fans took to Twitter to react to the Rakitic story. It is fair to say that the fanbase is split down the middle. We take a look at some of the tweets below.
Nah he’s over the age of 18 we can’t simply take experienced players we need to build for the future!

Superb Footballer. We should sign him and keep Ndombele. Shouldn’t be one for the other
