Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente
According to a report from Spanish publication AS (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a summer swoop for Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente.
The former Real Madrid academy man joined Sociedad in 2017 and has grown into a defensive mainstay at the club. The 26-year-old has racked up 77 appearances for La Real, 20 of which have come in the 2019/20 campaign. He has scored seven goals for the club during this time.
Llorente has been capped five times by the Spanish national team as well. The centre-back, who can play in midfield as well, has had a decent campaign so far, which has put him on the radars of several clubs including Tottenham. (h/t Football.london)

Given that Spurs have struggled defensively this season, bringing in reinforcements should be a top priority for Jose Mourinho & co. More so, considering the fact that Jan Vertonghen‘s contract with the club is on the verge of expiry. And, Llorente, given his age and experience would be a handy addition.

Llorente has a release clause of £45m, but could be available for much less due to the pandemic. It will be interesting to see if the club goes after him this summer.
