All able-bodied men in South Korea have to do a two-year military service before the age of 28. However, Son was granted an exemption, after he led his nation to a Gold Medal in the 2018 Asian Games.

Instead, the 27-year-old needed to undergo a mandatory three-week military training service. Initially scheduled for the off-season, the season suspension due to coronavirus provided the forward an opportunity to go through the military service right now.

Having reported to training last month, the South Korean completed the programme last week, finishing in the top five of his batch.

After having successfully completed his training, Son returned to London on Saturday. It was initially believed that the 27-year-old would be quarantined once again for a two-week period. However, that may not be the case.

According to new Premier League and Government protocols, he will have to self-isolate only if he is tested positive for coronavirus. (h/t Football.london)

This is sure to come as a boost for Jose Mourinho and Tottenham. The club have reopened the Hotspur Way training facility for individual training and plans are in place to resume team training from next week. And if Son isn’t tested positive for the virus, he will be able to rejoin the training immediately.

Son had been in top form this season, but a broken arm halted his progress. Till date, the South Korean international has scored 16 goals this season for our club. The suspension of football has allowed Son’s injury to heal. Hopefully, he, along with the returning Harry Kane, lead us to a top-four finish in the league.
