Spurs Transfer Rumours: Club handed boost in Hojbjerg chase, Vertonghen being wooed to join Inter
Tottenham Hotspur are making the news even when the football on the pitch is suspended. We take a look at the latest Spurs transfer news and rumours of the day.
Tottenham receive boost in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg pursuit
According to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham have received a boost in their chase to sign Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The 24-year-old , who is on the radars of Spurs, is entering the final year of his contract. And as per the report, he has rejected multiple offers of a renewal from the South Coast club. Hojbjerg has been key in Southampton’s revival in the second half of the campaign. And Saints’ manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is intent on keeping him.
But with the Danish international refusing to pen a new deal, Southampton could be forced to offload him when the transfer window opens. His signing would definitely add more solidity and strength to the Spurs’ midfield unit. It will be interesting to see if the North Londoners are able to seal the deal.
Lukaku trying to convince Jan Vertonghen to sign for Inter
According to Gazetta dello Sport (h/t Football Italia), Inter Milan have enlisted star striker Romelu Lukaku’s help to convince Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen to join the club.
Vertonghen is in the final leg of his contract with Spurs. The veteran star has dropped several hints that he could be leaving at the end of the season. A number of clubs across Italy and Spain are interested. The former Manchester United has reportedly called Vertonghen and already spoken to him about the potential transfer. It remains to be seen if he has been able to convince the Spurs man.
