Tottenham handed boost in Ivan Perisic pursuit
According to a report from Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost in the pursuit of Croatian international Ivan Perisic.
The winger is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Inter Milan. The German giants have an option to make his transfer permanent for a €20m fee. During his time at the Allianz Arena, the 31-year-old has contributed with five goals and eight assists in 22 matches.
However, Die Roten have decided not to take up that option, according to reputed journalist Nicolo Schira. Due to the negative financial impact of the coronavirus crisis, Bayern are unwilling to €20m for Perisic. Instead, they are planning to negotiate a lower fee for the winger with Inter Milan. This development will come as a boost for Tottenham, reports Football.london. Perisic has been linked with a move to our club for quite some time now. Our manager, Jose Mourinho, is a known admirer of the veteran winger and had tried to sign him during his time at Manchester United. (h/t Football.london)
After what has been a disappointing campaign, Mourinho will be keen on bringing in reinforcements across the pitch ahead of the next season.
But a new winger, at this moment, might not be a top priority. Tottenham already have Son Heung-min, Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela, all of whom play on the flanks. The manager has also preferred to use youngster Ryan Sessegnon in an advanced role on the left-wing as well.

However, given Perisic’s experience and proven pedigree, he could prove to be a valuable short-term addition for the club. It remains to be seen if Mourinho decides to go after the Croatian this summer.
