Tottenham fans react to rumours of interest in AS Monaco star Guillermo Maripan
As per a report from Spanish publication AS (h/t Football.london), Tottenham are among three Premier League clubs interested in signing AS Monaco defender Guillermo Maripan.
The 26-year-old Maripan started out at the academy of Chilean outfit Católica. The defender moved to Europe in 2017, joining Spanish outfit Alaves. Having spent two years at the club, the Chilean joined AS Monaco last summer in an €18m deal.
Maripan has grown into an important player for the Principality outfit outfit in his debut season, finishing with two goals from 24 matches in all competitions. He has also been capped 24 times by the Chilean national team as well.
And as per the report, the 26-year-old is on Spurs’ radar heading into the summer transfer window. Along with Tottenham, the likes of West Ham United and Watford are also keen on signing the 26-year-old centre-back.
Fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts on a potential move for the Chilean international. And here we bring you some of the reactions from the club’s supporters.
Reactions
wouldn’t necessarily be against this and would gladly accept him signing, but much better options out there

If we are looking at Monaco centre backs then we’d be better off with Badiashile

I don’t know much about the player, but what I know is that we are desperate for quality in the center back. He is rated for about 20mil Euro. Will he do the job. Me personally think we need to aim higher

Tottenham have been extremely disappointing in defence this season. A new centre-back is an absolute necessity heading into the next term. More so, considering Jan Vertonghen’s contract is about to expire.
It will be interesting to see who the club goes after in the summer. But if reactions from fans are to go by, Maripan might not prove to be a popular choice.
