Luis Campos requests contract termination with Lille amid Tottenham interest
French outlet RMC Sport (h/t Football.london) is reporting that Lille sporting director Luis Campos has requested the termination of his contract with the club, amid serious interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Campos has been employed by the Ligue 1 club since 2017 and has still three years left on his contract. However, The Portuguese has reportedly been left unhappy after the club excluded him from a number of key decisions in recent times. (h/t Football.london)
This development ought to come as music to the ears of Tottenham Hotspur. Our club has been linked the Portuguese ever since Jose Mourinho took over the reins at the club.
Campos enjoys a very close relationship with our manager, having worked with him at Real Madrid. He has previously expressed his desire of working with his compatriot. (h/t Football.london)
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Football.london) in October, he had said:
“Mourinho is like a brother to me. I know him very well and for a long time. He’s a wonderful person and the best coach in the world. So, of course, if he called me I would speak.”
Tottenham have been without a sporting director for two years and landing Campos would be a great move by the club. Going by the current season, the boss has a lot of work to do in turning Tottenham’s fortunes around. And all help would be great at the moment.
