Joes Blakborn gives update on his client Sergino Dest amidst Tottenham interest
According to Dutch publication Voetbal International (h/t Football.london), the agent of Sergino Dest has opened up on his client’s future amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the best young full-backs in European football. He has made a total of 35 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch giants this season.
The 19-year-old came through the youth ranks at the Ajax academy and broke into the first-team in the 2019/20 campaign. His performances have caught the attention of European giants such as Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Joes Blakborn, Dest’s agent, has confirmed that both the European giants are keen on his client’s services. However, neither of them has yet made a formal offer for the player.
“They have not officially reported to me or Ajax.”
He went on to add that the player could replace Nelson Semedo at Barcelona. The Portuguese right-back looks to be on his way out, leaving an opening in the Catalans’ squad. Bayern too are keen to sign the player. However, they have been unable to agree on a figure for the 19-year-old.
“Bayern Munich still want to take Sergino from Ajax, but at the moment both parties are still far apart. We can’t do anything about that at the moment.”
Dest’s contract runs until 2022, giving the Dutch giants leeway in contract negotiations.
Right-back is a position that needs to be addressed by Tottenham in the upcoming window. The club sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid last summer without signing a replacement. Moreover, Kyle Walker-Peters and Danny Rose were loaned out in January, leaving Serge Aurier as the only recognized right-back in the squad.
The less we talk about the Ivorian’s reliability, the better.

Dest also made his debut for the US Men’s National Team in September last year and has accrued three international caps so far this term.
Dest is not the only right-back that our club has been linked to. The likes of Thomas Meunier, and Max Aarons and even Nelson Semedo have been mentioned. So it will be interesting to see who the club recruits before next season.
