Tottenham Hotspur target Ivan Rakitic could leave Barcelona in the transfer window
According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has revealed that he could leave the club in the upcoming transfer window. The Croatian reckons it is time for a ‘big change’ after having fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp.
This will come as good news to Tottenham, who are interested in the 32-year-old. With his contract expiring next year, the Catalans are keen to recoup what they can for him this summer.
Interest in the player is high, with a number of high profile clubs waiting in the wings. The likes of Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Villarreal, Juventus, and Sevilla are all keen. Closer to home, Manchester United too have been keeping tabs on the player.
The Croatian has been left frustrated with his situation at Barcelona. With him being unsure of his position in the squad, he is keen to move on. He expressed his frustration regarding the topic on Spanish radio channels on Monday night.
Rakitic stated that he would have expected someone from the club to come out and put an end to the rumours of him leaving. He expressed hope that club president Josep Bartomeu would be listening to him voice his frustrations. He also went on to add that he has not taken the option of a ‘big change’ in his career off the table.
Tottenham are likely to face the most competition from Sevilla. Having spent a number of years at the La Liga side, Rakitic and his family have a special affinity to the city.
“My family’s future? We will go to live in Seville sooner or later, almost certainly.”
