Tottenham Hotspur to rival Arsenal and United for Alassane Plea
According to German publication Bild (h/t Metro), Tottenham Hotspur will battle Manchester United and Arsenal for Bundesliga ace Alassane Plea.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season and has notched up 8 goals and 9 assists in 29 games so far this season. He did his reputation no harm as the Bundesliga returned to action last weekend. Plea scored in the first minute as Borussia Monchengladbach won 3-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The victory leaves them in 3rd spot, with a real chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
With the financial stability of a number of clubs going for a toss, the German could be forced to sell their star in the upcoming transfer window. Plea had previously admitted that he was flattered by offers from teams in England before moving to Gladbach in 2018.
Both Arsenal and United are in the fray owing to their lack of options up front. With the futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Odion Ighalo up in the air, our rivals are on the lookout for replacements.
We are no better off. Having failed to replace Fernando Llorente, Harry Kane is the only senior specialist striker in the squad. Bringing in an able deputy has to be at the top of our priorities going into next season.
Spurs have floundered following the injuries to Kane and Son Heung-min. It is debatable if we would have struggled this much had an able deputy been available.
A versatile player who initially started out on the left, Plea has played a central role at Gladbach. A player who can hold the ball up well, he is technically proficient and can make runs behind the defence.
