Jonathan David prefers a move to the Bundesliga

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Jonathan David has declared that he believes the Bundesliga will be best suited for his development

The 20-year-old has been one of the best players for Belgian giants Genk. He has improved upon his debut in Europe last season and has taken it up several notches this time around.

His performances have made some of the biggest clubs on the continent sit up and take notice. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all keeping tabs on the youngster. (h/t Express)

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a blow in the chase for Jonathan David

In a setback to our hopes of securing him, he believes he is better off moving to the German Bundesliga.

“The league that would suit me the most right now is the Bundesliga.”

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, he is also capable of playing up front. David has notched up an impressive 23 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The 20-year-old believes that the German top division is a much more competitive version of the Juniper Pro League. Having taken Belgium by storm, one would bet past him doing the same across the border.

A tricky customer who is also a clinical finisher, David would have been an excellent signing for Tottenham. Not only would he have added a goalscoring threat from midfield, but also give us another option up front.

Given how we have fared in Harry Kane’s absence this season, the importance of that option cannot be downplayed. David is also a prolific scorer at the international level for Canada with 11 goals in 12 games.

Still just 20, the youngster is immensely talented. He has so far made good on his plan of making a name for himself in Europe. Succeeding in the Bundesliga will only enhance his reputation further.

Hopefully, he will one day make the move to Tottenham and dazzle the fans at the Lane. If Jose Mourinho does indeed take us to the top, there’s no reason why that cannot happen.
