Juan Foyth urged to make a decision on Leeds United interest
According to Football Insider (h/t Leeds Live), former Sunderland star Kevin Phillips has urged Tottenham Hotspur star Juan Foyth to make a decision on interest from Leeds United.
The Championship side looks set to finally return to the top-flight of English football after a lengthy absence. Currently at the top of the second division, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be keen not to fall away like last season.
Promotion to the Premier League could ensure a busy transfer window at Elland Road. Certain additions will be needed for them to be able to compete in the top-flight.
Such a situation would be tailor-made for Foyth, who has struggled to make an impact in North London. Brought in by Mauricio Pochettino, Foyth has seen his opportunities further limited under new manager Jose Mourinho. He has failed to make an appearance for the club since playing against Norwich City in December.
The emergence of Japhet Tanganga has further limited his chances at the club. Hence, Foyth may have no other option but to resurrect his career elsewhere.
Phillips believes the 22-year-old could be the ideal candidate to strengthen the Leeds backline. Capable of playing at the top level, the Argentine has Premier League and international experience, which should help his cause.
“I could definitely see that one happening.”
He has tipped Foyth to move to Elland Road especially if Ben White leaves the club. Although he feels the Leeds star is the better defender, a run of games should help him rediscover his form.
“A run of games would certainly benefit him. It has been a while since he has played regularly but I like the qualities he possesses.”

Leeds is likely to be an interesting option, given the presence of Bielsa. An Argentine himself, the Leeds boss is likely to have a good understanding of his countryman’s strengths.
Foyth will be joining a side that is managed by a person with a proven track record at getting the best out of his resources. It could very well prove to be the break the defender needs.
The 22-year-old has made 32 appearances for the club and has scored one goal. (h/t Transfermarkt)
