The North London Derby between Tottenham and Arsenal could be played at a neutral venue
According to a report from the Mirror, the North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the Premier League may be played at a neutral venue when the season resumes.
The Premier League made an announcement earlier this week, confirming that the season will tentatively resume from June 17. Our rivals Arsenal will kick things off against Manchester City, while Aston Villa will take on Sheffield United.
While this is a huge boost for all clubs playing some matches in neutral venues also looms large. According to the report, the police are arguing that between 10-12 “high risk games” should be played in neutral venues. One such game under consideration to be played at a neutral venue is the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham.
The derby was initially scheduled to be played on April 26th. But the season suspension meant that it was postponed indefinitely. And while the new date for the clash is yet to be confirmed, the police are reportedly arguing that the game should be played at a neutral venue – with West Ham’s London Stadium being earmarked. Should it get shifted to a neutral venue, we will once again have to wait till next season for the first NLD at our new stadium.
Along with the North London derby, the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton as well as the London derby between Spurs and West Ham could also take place at neutral venues. Manchester City’s Etihad is likely to host the former, while the latter could be played at the Wembley Stadium. (h/t Mirror)

An alternate update from Dan Kilpatrick though, claims that the NLD is not amongst the fixtures being considered to be played at a neutral venue. So, there is still a lack of clarity on the situation as things stand.
This topic though is still up for discussion with a vote likely to be taken in the next week’s meeting. All clubs are in favour of playing at their respective home stadiums. So, it will be interesting to see what decision is arrived at.
