Tottenham Hotspur risk player mutiny if they sign Philippe Coutinho

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (h/t Mirror), Jose Mourinho risks upsetting his Tottenham Hotspur players if he signs Philippe Coutinho.

The former Liverpool star opened Pandora’s box by moving to Catalunya. Now having to salvage his career, he is keen on a return to the Premier League.

Apart from Spurs, this has prompted interest from a number of clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United. With Mourinho not keen on adding the 27-year-old to our squad, he is free to choose from amongst our rivals.

It was earlier reported that Tottenham were keen on a loan move. A temporary switch would have still proven to be a significant investment given the player’s wages. Apart from the £9million loan fee, we would also have had to pay at least a part of his £200,000-per-week wages. Incidentally, it is higher than what any of our stars make. (h/t Mirror)

According to the report, Mourinho does not want to risk an outcry from his players by signing Coutinho on his mammoth salary.

Given how the team have been bonding over the training sessions, it is clear to see why togetherness has to be preserved.
