Tottenham Hotspur to take on Norwich City in a friendly
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur will take on Norwich City in a friendly match on June 12 .
It will take place just a week ahead of the restart of the Premier League. Tottenham will resume the campaign with a crunch clash against Manchester United. With both clubs chasing a top four finish, the game is likely to be a feisty affair.
The players will be taking part in a competitive game after three months. Hence, it is necessary to ensure that we are back to full match fitness as soon as possible.
Both Tottenham and Norwich have already played in-house 11 v 11 matches since practice matches were granted during Step 2 of Project Restart. This friendly fixture is one of the first arranged for Premier League opposition to face each other. (h/t Telegraph)
Similar to pre-season games, the match will helps us test our new tactics and combinations. The guidelines for playing teams has been to be within 90 minutes of travel, which works perfectly for Spurs and Norwich.
Another constraint was that teams are only allowed to face opposition they have already played against twice in the Premier League and will not play in the run-in when the action starts again on June 17.
Spurs have already faced Norwich three times this season. The most recent clash saw us getting knocked out of the FA Cup at home. All three games were highly competitive, providing the ideal setting for us to test ourselves.
With the likes of Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko set to play their first competitive game in over half a year, the practice matches become all the more important.
