There were most distasteful, unsavoury comments directed at the protesters, among whom were some individuals wearing a Tottenham training kit. (h/t Football.london)
This was brought to the club’s notice by singer Declan McKenna, who is a Spurs fan. He tweeted the club asking to identify these individuals and ban then.
“@SpursOfficial there were many present claiming to represent Tottenham in this racist mob. As a lifelong supporter and season ticket holder you have to implement serious consequences for this behaviour, let them know that this hatred is not welcome. Ban them.”
Responding to the tweet by McKenna, Tottenham replied back, saying:
“These are no fans of ours. This Club does not tolerate racist, discriminatory or hateful behaviour of any kind. We are looking into this and will take the necessary action against any so-called ‘fan’ involved.”

The incident is quite distasteful and if there were Tottenham fans involved among the counter protesters hurling abuses at the protesters, the club must identify such individuals and take proper action.
