Manchester United and Arsenal make contact with the agent of Tottenham Hotspur target Paulo Dybala.

Paulo Dybala opens up on his failed Tottenham move last summer

In an interview with CNN, Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala has revealed that there had been talks with Tottenham over a transfer last summer, but he decided to stay put at the Serie A outfit.

Dybala, during his time at Juventus, has grown into one of the most sought-after forwards. The 26-year-old has amassed 91 goals and 36 assists in 216 appearances for the Bianconeri. However, the Argentine came close to leaving the Serie A giants last summer, after having had a poor 2018/19 campaign.

Tottenham were among the clubs linked with a move for the 26-year-old, along with our rivals Manchester United, as well as French champions Paris Saint-Germain. Dybala has now revealed that he came very close to leaving Juventus, with talks held with all the aforementioned clubs. (h/t CNN)

“That’s when I was contacted and there were some clubs that were interested in me. Among those were Manchester United and Tottenham. I think for a long time there were conversations, then Paris Saint-Germain also appeared.”

However, the forward decided to stay put and fight for his place in Turin instead and has been able to rediscover his mojo. So far in 2019/20, he has produced a return of 13 goals and 12 assists in 34 matches in all competitions.

Given his quality, there is no doubt that Dybala would have been a fine addition to our ranks. The sight of him running at defences alongside Harry Kane would have been something to revel.
