Tottenham are willing to scrap transfer plans and make a move for £30m-rated Raul Jimenez
According to a report from Football Insider (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are ready to tear up their transfer plans and fund a move for Wolves striker Raul Jimenez, if he becomes available this summer.
Tottenham will be operating on a limited transfer budget, owing to the negative impact of the coronavirus on the finances.
No matches have been played at the new stadium since March. No fans will be allowed once the Premier League returns to action for the foreseeable future. Along with this, other sporting and non-sporting events have also cancelled until next year at the earliest. (h/t Express)
As a result, the club are expected to lose out on £200m in revenue. Only last week, it emerged that the club had been forced to borrow £175m to cover costs due to the outbreak. (h/t Express)
Given the dire circumstances, manager Jose Mourinho is expected to enter the transfer market on a very restricted budget. The loan and free agency markets are likely to be where Spurs are more active this summer, as per the report.
However, Daniel Levy is prepared to grant Mourinho one exception. Should Jimenez become available on the market, the Tottenham chairman will loosen the purse strings in order for Jose to sign the Mexican. (h/t Express)
Likely to cost around £30m, Jimenez has been in top form since joining Wolves in 2018, initially on loan, before making his transfer permanent last year. The 29-year-old Mexican international has produced exceptional returns of 22 goals and 10 assists in 44 matches in all competitions this season.

The report adds that Mourinho is a huge admirer of the former Benfica man and wants to sign him up as he seeks to bolster his attacking ranks.
It is no secret that we are thinly-stretched in the centre-forward department. An injury to Harry Kane exposed our lack of depth in the position in the second half of the season. Hence, bringing in a new striker should be a priority for Tottenham this summer.
Jimenez, to that end, would be a great addition. The Mexican has been in top form since arriving in England and would be the ideal foil for Kane. However, it remains to be seen if Tottenham are able to convince Wolves to part ways with their star man.
