Rose joined Newcastle United on loan in the January transfer window, after having been deemed surplus to requirements by new manager Jose Mourinho. The Tyneside outfit reportedly paid a £1.8m in loan fee to secure the Englishman’s signing.

The 29-year-old got to make just six appearances for the Magpies, before the season was suspended due to the pandemic. Rose’s initial loan agreement was set to expire at the end of June. However, due to no football taking place for three months, the 2019/20 season will go deep into July.

FIFA had allowed for clubs to extend contracts of on-loan players till the season completes, provided they strike an agreement with the parent club. And now, as per the aforementioned report, Newcastle have been able to reach an agreement with our club to keep the 29-year-old at the club until the campaign is over.

The report further adds that Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is keen on making the transfer of Rose permanent. Tottenham are not opposed to the idea, given that they will be in need of funds to secure the club’s own transfer targets.

Rose has been with our club since 2007, having signed from the Leeds United academy. Till date, the England international has racked up 214 appearances for Tottenham, bagging 10 goals and 29 assists.
