Tottenham in talks with PSG star Thomas Meunier
According to a report from the Express, Tottenham are in talks to sign PSG defender Thomas Meunier at the end of the season, with his contract on the verge of expiry. The full-back is also a target for Liverpool and Manchester United.
Meunier has been linked with a move to Tottenham for quite a while now. The 28-year-old’s association with PSG is nearing an end, with his contract with the club running out. He joined the French champions back in 2016 and has a trophy-laden four year spell at the club although he hasn’t always been the undisputed choice at right-back.
Till date, he has made 128 appearances for PSG, scoring 13 goals and creating 21 more. The 2019/20 campaign saw him feature 27 times across all competitions, with a return of 1 goal and 2 assists.
A regular for the Belgian national team, Meunier was a regular in the side that finished third in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. So far, he has made 40 senior appearances for Belgium, scoring three goals.
A proven quantity for both club and country, his availability his alerted Tottenham, with manager Jose Mourinho extremely keen on signing Meunier. To that end, the club have opened talks with the 28-year-old to beat Liverpool and Manchester United to his signing. (h/t Express)
It is no secret that the right-back slot needs reinforcing, after having sold Kieran Trippier last summer. Kyle Walker-Peters was also loaned out in January, and could be offloaded on a permanent basis. With Serge Aurier being as unreliable as he is, signing someone of Meunier’s quality would be a great move.

Furthermore, given his free agency, he would cost the club nothing in transfer fee. With the current financial conditions, it makes great sense for the club to go after the Belgian.
However, Nicolo Schira has claimed that Borussia Dortmund are set to sign Meunier this summer. So, it remains to be seen if our club do stand a chance of landing the 28-year-old.
