Tottenham interested in re-signing former academy man Marcus Edwards
According to reports in Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Football.london), Tottenham are interested in re-signing former academy prospect Marcus Edwards from Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer.
The 21-year-old Edwards came through the youth ranks at our club and had been tipped for great things, with former boss Mauricio Pochettino even comparing the youngster to Lionel Messi at one point. (h/t Sky Sports)
However, the forward failed to make the grade to the first-team and after a couple of loan spells away at Norwich City and Excelsior, he joined Vitoria permanently last summer. Since joining the Portuguese club though, the youngster has found his mojo back, bagging 7 goals and 7 assists in 30 matches across all competitions.
His exploits in Portugal have reportedly led to Tottenham considering bringing back the youngster to the club in the upcoming transfer window. Along with Spurs, Manchester United too are monitoring the 21-year-old. (h/t Football.london)
Tottenham fans flocked on Twitter to react to this development and here we compile some reactions from the club’s supporters over the possibility of re-signing Edwards.
Fan Reactions
Should never have sold him in the first place, there’s no doubt this kid is very talented, all he needed was a loan to the right club to gain experience and a kick up the arse, hope we sign him back

Can’t believe it. But said we never should have sold him. Why would he want to come back to a club where he wasnt given a chance?
