As reported by the BBC, Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has thrown his weight behind manager Jose Mourinho, amid suggestions that the striker wouldn’t be able to thrive in the Portuguese’s team.

Sky Sports pundit, Paul Merson, earlier this week, had questioned if Kane would succeed in a Mourinho team, given the manager’s pragmatic and defensive tactics. (h/t Daily Mail)

Mourinho hit back at Merson prior to Tottenham’s match against West Ham United, naming all the strikers he has worked with and their goalscoring record under him, in a four-minute rant.

And the manager was further vindicated on Tuesday night when Kane found the back of the net against the Hammers, as we ran out 2-0 winners. The 26-year-old England captain showed great composure to finish past Lukasz Fabianski, helping us climb up in the Premier League table.

Following the match, Kane was questioned if he had problems with how the team played under Jose, the striker insisted that he was very much comfortable with the tactics. (h/t BBC)

“I’ve got no problem with how the manager plays. He’s here to win, we’re here to win games. Obviously this season, to get into the Champions League and next season to progress and try to win something. People, pundits have their opinions.”

The win against Tottenham was a step in the right direction. We moved up a spot into the seventh place in the table, closing down the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea to six points.

With Sheffield United and Manchester United playing each other, there will be points dropped on Wednesday. This ought to benefit us. Chelsea, on the other hand, will take on an in-form Manchester City side. They too, may end up dropping points, which would bode well for us in the top four race.
