Tottenham target Willian in negotiations with Chelsea over new deal
As reported by the Daily Mail, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has claimed that Brazilian winger Willian, who is a target for Tottenham, is in talks to sign a new long-term contract with the club.
Willian was in the final month of his current contract with Chelsea. While the veteran winger has agreed to a short-term extension till the end of the season, but his future beyond that remains uncertain.

The presence of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in the Spurs’ dugout has only served to intensify the speculations. It was Jose who signed Willian at Chelsea back in 2013. The Brazilian has praised the manager and insisted the pair share a good relationship on multiple occasions.
However, the club might not be able to sign the 31-year-old on a free transfer this summer, with the player in fresh negotiations over a new contract. Chelsea boss Lampard has confirmed that the Brazilian is in talks and could be set for an extension. (h/t Daily Mail)
“Yes we are still talking with the players and Willian in particular we are talking with him. I always felt confident that they would remain.”
Willian, at 31, wouldn’t have been a long-term signing for the club. But given his experience at the top level, he would have brought much value to a young Tottenham squad.

It remains to be seen if Willian does pen a new deal, considering that talks haven’t bore fruit in the past. If he does not, Tottenham should look to act fast and snap up the seasoned campaigner.
