Jose Mourinho takes a swipe at Manchester United over controversial Aston Villa penalty

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at his former club Manchester United.

The Red Devils were the recipients of an extremely contentious penalty in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa. The decision was also confirmed to be a wrong call by the Premier League later on.

Another decision that the officials got wrong was in our 0-0 draw against Bournemouth. Mourinho is not known for passing over an opportunity to make a point and did so again.

When asked about his side’s attack in comparison to United, Mourinho did not hold back in what is a clear taunt.

“United’s 13 penalties is a help – it’s a help!”

Tottenham should have had a clear penalty when Joshua King brought down Harry Kane. It was not given and the Premier League’s admission of the same comes as a scant report. Mourinho refused to make to openly criticize the decision in his post-match interview but his contempt was clearly visible.

“Ask the referees, not me.”

Although much noise was made regarding the incorporation of technology in the sport, the same issues linger. Given the lack of a common directive or accountability, we might as well say that it benefits some teams more than others.

Tottenham are currently nine points behind United, who look primed to overtake a struggling Leicester City side to fourth. With just four more games to go, Spurs will almost certainly miss out on qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
