Transfer News: Tottenham to battle La Liga giants for 19-year-old midfield starlet

Tottenham and Atletico Madrid interested in Can Bozdogan

According to a report from Tramsfermarkt (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur will battle La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Schalke midfield starlet Can Bozdogan.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder came through the youth ranks at FC Koln, before making the switch to Schalke back in 2019. Since then, he has made three senior appearances, although he has largely been involved with the club’s U19 side.

Indeed, Bozdogan featured 13 times in the U19 Bundesliga West for Schalke, scoring three goals and assisting three more, while he also found the back of the net once in the DFB Pokal Junioren.

Bozdogan is able to play in the No.10 role, or on the left flank as well. He has also represented the German national team at the U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels.

The report even adds that Tottenham have watched the youngster in action on a number of occasions this season and have made Schalke aware of their admiration for the player.

Bozdogan still has two years left on his current contract with FC Schalke 04. A talented youngster, the German youth international can be a good investment with an eye on the future.
