Kyle Walker-Peters confident of Southampton permanent transfer
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Tottenham academy man Kyle Walker-Peters is confident of sealing a permanent transfer to Southampton, in spite of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s transfer to Spurs being on the verge of falling through.
The 23-year-old Walker-Peters came through the youth ranks at Tottenham, but was never able to establish himself as a regular at the first-team level. Having seen very little game time since Jose Mourinho took over, the right-back was loaned out to Southampton in January.
While the youngster had to bide his time at St. Mary’s, he has become one of the first few names on the teamsheet since the restart period. Indeed, the youngster has put in some fine performances over the past few weeks, including against the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.
This has led to Southampton eyeing a permanent deal for the English youth international. There had been reports that Tottenham were looking to use the 23-year-old as a makeweight in the deal to sign Saints’ midfielder Hojbjerg (h/t Evening Standard)
But that now seems to be off as the Danish international is reportedly on his way to Everton. Southampton have accepted an offer for their former captain from the Toffees. It is even being claimed that that Hojbjerg has also agreed terms on a contract. (h/t Daily Echo)
Southampton have been insistent on keeping the deal for Walker-Peters as a separate entity from the Hojbjerg negotiations. And the youngster is understood to be confident that the deal will go, even if the transfer for the Danish international ends up falling through.

The 23-year-old Walker-Peters doesn’t seem to have a future at Tottenham, considering that Mourinho let him leave in January despite there being a lack of cover at right-back. So, it will be interesting to see if he joins the Saints on a permanent basis.
