Former Crystal Palace chairman tips Wilfried Zaha to join Tottenham
Speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Football.london), former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has backed Wilfried Zaha to join Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old is a product of the Eagles’ youth setup. After failed stints at Manchester United and Cardiff City (loan), he returned to Palace and has since established himself as one of the most dangerous wingers in England.
However, his situation at the Selhurst Park is far from ideal. Having come close to leaving the club last summer, he ended up staying put, which clearly impacted his performances. Thus, he ended the season with a paltry return of four goals and five assists in 38 league matches.
With the season now ended, Zaha is once again pushing for an exit, which Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed. And now, former Palace chairman Jordan has claimed that he could see the Ivory Coast international joining Tottenham in the summer. (h/t Football.london)
“He is on £130,000-a-week which in Palace’s terms, is very expensive. He wants to go. I could see him going to Tottenham. He is in the price category that Daniel [Levy] might be willing to spend.”
While Tottenham are well-stocked in the wide areas, we do lack someone who would bring the direct threat and ingenuity like Zaha does. He may have had a poor season in terms of goal returns, but he completed the second-most take-ons in the league this season, indicating that he makes things happen each time on the ball.

The report claims that our rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are eyeing a swoop for him as well.
While he will be a good addition to the squad, signing him could take out a large chunk of our transfer budget. Given the current economic climate, that might prove to be imprudent as there are a number of other positions that need to strengthened this summer.
