Juan Foyth wants to stay at Tottenham and fight for a spot
Speaking on Argentine sports show Libero (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth has insisted that he wants to stay at the club and fight for a place in the side, amid exit speculations.
The 22-year-old joined Tottenham back in 2017 from Argentine outfit Estudiantes. But, in his three years at the club, the versatile defender hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular in the Spurs’ first-team.
The 2019/20 campaign was a difficult one for the Argentine international, who had to deal with multiple injuries, while the change of management didn’t help his cause either. Indeed, Foyth received very few opportunities under Jose Mourinho and failed to make the most of those.
Speculations over his future have been doing the rounds since January itself, while his agent has hinted that they are looking at their options ahead of the next season.
Of late, Foyth has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds United. The Whites, who are back in the Premier League after 16 years, are readying a £15m offer for the Argentine international. However, Foyth still hasn’t given up on his future at Tottenham and wants to stay and fight for a spot in the side. (h/t Football.london)
“If I have the chance to compete for a spot, I would like to stay at Spurs.”
The 22-year-old also went on to praise Mourinho even though he hasn’t played a lot under the Portuguese tactician. (h/t Football.london)
“Mourinho is very close to the players. Even though I didn’t play much, I think he’s a great coach and person. He wants to win at all costs.”

Foyth, despite having had his fair share of problems, remains a talented player with plenty of potential. Selling him might not be the best move for the club this summer. Although, a loan deal could work out well for all parties involved.
