Tottenham eyeing summer move for Porto’s Luis Diaz
According to a report from Portuguese publication Record (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a move for FC Porto winger Luis Diaz in the current transfer window.
The 23-year-old Colombian came through the youth ranks at CF Barranquilla before joining Junior FC in 2017. Having spent two years at the club, he made the jump to Europe last summer, joining FC Porto.
Since joining the club, the winger has made quite the impact. In 49 appearances across all competitions in 2019/20, Diaz has netted 14 goals and set up 7 more. This has alerted Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, who wants the club to sign the 23-year-old in the summer. (h/t Express)
Having failed to qualify for the Champions League, Tottenham will be operating on a tight budget this summer. But Mourinho remains intent on strengthening his troops for the next season, with Diaz one of the names on his transfer shortlist. (h/t Express)
Tottenham have a number of wide players on the books currently. However, Lucas Moura has been struggling for goals for a while now, while Erik Lamela continues to blow hot and cold. So, strengthening the wings wouldn’t be the worst idea.
Diaz, to that end, would be a handy addition, given his prolific debut season in Europe. However, he still has four years left on his contract with Porto, who are likely to demand a hefty transfer fee for the 23-year-old.

The 23-year-old Diaz made his debut for the Colombian national team back in September 2018. Till date, he has featured 13 times at the international level, finding the back of the net once.
It remains to be seen if there is any real interest from Tottenham, or the Portuguese media are just drumming up speculations, much like they do during every transfer window.
