Tottenham ready to swap Erik Lamela to sign Ivan Perisic
According to a report from Calciomercato (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to swap Erik Lamela in order to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan in the ongoing transfer window.
Lamela has been with Tottenham since 2013, but has never been able to establish himself as a regular, with injuries and inconsistent form hampering him at every step of the way.
The Argentine international had an average 2019/20 campaign, finishing with four goals and six assists in 35 matches across all competitions. He started just three of our ten league matches following the restart of the season and didn’t always make the best impression.
As a result, Lamela’s future at the club has been in question, with reports claiming that Jose Mourinho might offload him to generate transfer funds to pursue his targets. And as per the aforementioned report, the club are prepared to use the 28-year-old as part of a swap deal to bring Ivan Perisic to London. (h/t Express)
Perisic is someone that Jose Mourinho tried to sign back in his Manchester United days and still remains a huge admirer of. The 31-year-old is currently on loan at German champions Bayern Munich from Inter Milan and has enjoyed a fairly decent season, managing six goals and ten assists in 31 games in all competitions.
Bayern have the chance to sign him permanently for £18.1m. However, they have decided not to use that option, while he is also not a part of plans at Inter Milan. With his future far from certain, Mourinho is looking to provide him a way out by bringing him to Tottenham. (h/t Express)
