Fulham, West Brom keen on signing Jack Clarke on loan
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke has emerged as a loan target for newly-promoted Premier League clubs Fulham and West Bromwich Albion.
The 19-year-old Clarke came through the youth ranks at Leeds United and joined Tottenham on a permanent deal last summer. He was immediately loaned out back to Leeds. However, a lack of opportunities saw the club recall him in January, before shipping him off to QPR for the second half of the campaign.
In total, Clarke ended the 2019/20 season with just ten appearances across all competitions, with no goal or assist to show for.
The England U20 international may have had an unproductive 2019/20 campaign, but remains a precocious talent. And, Premier League newbies Fulham and West Bromwich Albion are now eyeing a potential loan move for Clarke. (h/t Evening Standard)
The Baggies returned to top-flight via automatic promotion after finishing second in the EFL Championship. Fulham, on the other hand, beat London rivals Brentford 2-1 in the Playoff semi-finals to come back to the top tier. Both clubs are now vying for Clarke’s signing on a season-long loan.
The report, however, claims that Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho wants to keep Clarke at the club next season. The Portuguese tactician wants more competition in the attacking department and wants to give the teenage winger a chance at first-team football in the 2020/21 campaign.
