Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season schedule leaked

Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season schedule ahead of the 2020/21 campaign seems to have leaked before the club has officially announced it.

As reported by the East Anglian Daily Times, the club will kick off their pre-season campaign with a friendly encounter against League One outfit Ipswich Town on the 22nd of August at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This will be followed by a fixture against against Championship outfit Reading a week later at our home venue, before the team takes on another second division outfit in the form of Birmingham City only a day later.

While there has been no official announcement on the matter, a search on Google for Tottenham Fixtures has listed the above three meetings as the club’s upcoming matches.

Trips to the United States of America and the Far East during pre-season have been the norm in the past few years. However, given the current circumstances because of the coronavirus pandemic, the club will be engaging friendlies with teams based in England only.

Of the three teams that have been penned down as our opponents, Ipswich are the lowest-ranked opponent, having finished 11th in the third tier. Birmingham just about survived relegation from the Championship, finishing 20th, while Reading ended the 2019/20 season in the 14th position in the second division.

Given that there hasn’t been an official announcement as of yet, there is every chance that these listings may be subject to change in the coming days.

The 2020/21 Premier League campaign is scheduled to start from September 12. The aforementioned fixtures should provide a good foundation for Jose Mourinho‘s players to get into fitness before the season kicks off.
